Cocos 04/2005
Our third Cocos trip. Again the Hammerheads were shy, but still tons of neat stuff to see. Included in this Gallery are pictures from 3 days of diving on Malpelo. Malpelo is a rock that breaks the surface of the Pacific ocean about 300 miles west of Puntarenas, Costa Rica and 300 Miles south of Cocos Island. Similar to Cocos, Malpelo is the top of a sea mount and attracts all manner of sea life. Unfortunately, the sides of this rock are very shear and conditions tend to be rough and visibility often poor. We were supposed to spend 4 days here before going on to Cocos Island and cut our stay short due to poor conditions, but not before a whale shark decided to swim right under our boat and visit for a while!!
